The "Mothers Prayers" group are holding a special weekend of prayer for Missing Persons and their Families and Friends. It will take place in St John's Rest and Care Centre at Our Lady's Shrine in Knock, County Mayo on Saturday 31 March from 10.30 A.M. to 5.15 P.M. and on Sunday 1 April from 10.30 A.M. to 5.15 P.M. Each day will end with mass at 4.30 P.M.
The families and friends of Missing People are welcome to attend either or both days. Please bring a packed lunch. Tea and Coffee will be served.

There have been a lot of articles in the news section of this site concering a missing persons' helpine, presently there is no help line in this country, despite the fact that since missing.ie was founded in May 2000, the number of people reported missing to the Gardai, has increased by two hundred persent, up to the year 2005 and the number continues to rise.
So taking these facts into consideration it is fair to say that this long standing Goverment of ours. appear to have taken the view that the bigger the problem gets, the less they do about it.
A lot of people in this country will not have suffered the trauma of having a loved one going missing. One week from the date this article is posted, 115 more families will, and this will continue and continue to increase as each week passes.
These numbers speak for themselves,and when we say numbers,we mean people.A fully funded,stand alone, help line is needed, the Goverment know this,and have known this for some time,so the Missing persons Association are again asking that funds be made available to set up a National Missing Persons Helpline,and that the helpline be run in the following way:
Every Garda station in the country have the number, and every member of the Gardai who take a missing persons report be obliged to pass the number onto the person making the report .
The helpline must be staffed by a qualified person, who can deal with the calls. Tte helpline must also have a full list of and contact details for all organisations voluntary,or other wise who are trained in searching for missing people,and asssisting families of missing people.
whatever resources are needed by the Gardíai to tackle this problem,must also be made available to them.
The Missing Persons' Association now speak to the public. A general election is coming soon, we ask you keep this in mind when casting your vote. The next person that goes missing,could be a member of your family. To understand what is is to have a loved one Missing, is best explained in this way:
{1} A good outcome would be that your missing loved one is found safe and well
{2} A bad outcome is that your missing loved one is found Deceased.
{3} the worst outcome is that your missing loved one is not found.

We express our sympathies with the families and friends of Shane Coughlan and David White who were missing from Clondalkin Dublin since Sunday 25 February. Shane was found deceased on Wednesday 28 February and David was found deceased on Saturday 3 March.

We express our deepest sympathy to the family of Michael Molloy, originally from Tullamore, and missing from Galway since 1 January 2007 and who was found deceased on the 15 February 2007.

Ciara Breen will be missing 10 years on the 13th February. Gardai in Dundalk have renewed their appeal for information. There are strong suspicions that there may be people in Dundalk who have information on her disappearance. If you have information on her disappearance please come forward to the Gardai. Every second of silence continues the misery for her family and friends.

Aengus (Gussie) Shanahan is missing seven years today. He is the reason why I set up this website. It is hard to believe that he is seven years missing. We again plead with people who may have information on his disappearance to please come forward and so end the nightmare that his family continues to endure.

An article in today's "Irish Examiner" reports that a friend of a missing person had contact with people claiming to have information. The people claimed that the missing person was in Ghana and in hospital. They clamed that they would help get him discharged if he wired money to them. In a second incident another relative of a missing person in Limerick also received a similar call.
It is hard to believe that there are such evil people who are capable of doing such a thing. They are the same people who send the all too familar scam emails telling you that they need your help to tranfer millions of dollars. One should never respond to such emails or phone calls but rather pass them on to the Gardai.
It is hoped that law enforcement agencies will use their powers to prosecute the people who are behind such scams.
Please note that every effort is made to ensure that no contact details of relatives of missing people appear on this website and the only phone contact details are the phone contact details of the Garda Station who are dealing with the case.
