09/08/2006 My name is Peter McGuire. I have almost completed writing an oral history of missing persons in Ireland for a research master's degree in UCD.
I'm now in the process of changing this into book form. As part of the book, I am looking to interview the families or friends of missing persons and lost contacts. In particular, I would like to publicise some of the cases that occured prior to the 1990s. Many such cases are included in the Lost Contacts and Missing Persons pages of this website. However, I would also be happy to interview any families of people who disappeared or lost contact in more recent years.
These cases would then be included in the book, which contains information on older missing persons cases and records the extent to which missing persons was a problem affecting society from the 1800s to today. Please be assured that anybody interviewed will be able to discuss any or all aspects of their loved one's case with me; I am not seeking any particular information or to restrict what can be said. Interviews would be conducted at a time suitable to you, either face to face or over the phone.
If you would like to have your loved one's case included, please contact me at petemcguire@gmail.com or write to me at Peter McGuire, 24 Glencairn Drive, Leopardstown, Dublin 18.

04/08/2006 A 24-year-old Co Tyrone farm labourer has been told he must spend the rest of his natural life in prison for the murder of retired librarian Attracta Harron.
Mrs Harron, who was 65 and from Strabane, was abducted and murdered by Trevor Hamilton as she made her way home from mass in Donegal in December 2003. She was missing from December 2003 to April 2004.
It is the first time in the judicial history of Northern Ireland that a prisoner has been sentenced to spend the remainder of his natural life behind bars.

20/05/2006 An article appeared in the Enniscorthy Guardian on the 28 April 2006 about two bodies that were found a number of years ago and who have not yet been identified despite every effort being made to try and identify them.
One of the bodies was washed up on Courtown beach in Wexford on the 23 October 1999. The unidentified man was white, aged between 25 and 40, well built, around 6 ft 2' in height, and possibly had dark hair. An elasticated band of material around his waist was the only clothing that led to a clue that the man may have been of Eastern European origin. He is now buried at St. Michael's Cemetery in Gorey
The other body was a woman. The woman, aged between 25 to 40 was found at Ballinamona Beach on December 12, 1995. The only clue found was that her jeans were made in Belgium and that she had a key to a volkswagan car. She is now buried at She was eventually buried in Crosstown Cemetery in Wexford.
If you have any information on who these people are, plaese contact the Gardai in Gorey Co Wexford.
